South Sudan,
Shambe National Reserve

South Sudan, Yirol

The Shambe National Park was established in the mid-1980s as the southern extension of the aforementioned Ez Zeraf Reserve.

This makes it an important part of the White Nile River ecosystem, with strange oxbow lakes and pop-up flood plains.

Animals include all of the biodiversity of the larger park to the north, as well as lions and hippos, wild foxes and swinging primates of various kinds, and elephants by the hundreds! Shambe Nature Reserve is also a designated birding area, thanks to the plethora of migratory species that pass through throughout the year.
